Robin Zentner is in a race against time to be fit for Mainz’s Bundesliga clash with RB Leipzig on Saturday.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper was forced out of training on Tuesday with back problems and sat out Wednesday’s session, according to Allgemeine Zeitung.
Per Bild, a decision on his availability is unlikely before Friday, with only an athletic session scheduled for Thursday.
Zentner has started all five of Mainz’s competitive games this season so far.
Should he miss out, 24-year-old Lasse Rieß is expected to deputise.
