Reports: Theate likely to join Eintracht permanently via low-appearance purchase clause

Germany’s main sporting tabloid and Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg both report that new Eintracht Frankfurt addition Arthur Theate will join the SGE permanently once an obligatory purchase clause is triggered relatively early this season. 

New Eintracht Frankfurt signing Arthur Theate, two reliable sources report, will become a permanent fixture in Germany’s commercial capital once a purchase clause in his current loan deal takes effect early this season. Germany’s “Sport Bild” tabloid and German transfer guru Florain Plettenberg claim that Theate’s parent club Stade Rennes negotiated a clause that will take effect after the Belgian international reaches a relatively low number of appearances. 

Eintracht will pay €13 million to acquire Theate on a permanent basis. Rennes can receive an additional €4 million in performance-related bonuses. The Ligue 1 outfit have also secured a sell-on-clause in the event that the 24-year-old’s estimated market worth rises rapidly and the Bundesliga club opt to “flip” him to a high bidder. Theate currently maintains an estimated €20 million market worth. There were once rumors that Leipzig sought to pay €30 million for him.
