Official : Simeone joins Torino and gives emotional Napoli farewell after 3 successful years

Giovanni Simeone has completed his transfer to Torino, on loan with obligation to buy, and said an emotional farewell to Napoli.

The centre-forward had been in talks for quite a while, as you would know if following the reporting of Football Italia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà.

He finally underwent the medical tests this morning and put pen to paper on the contract.

This is a paid loan, believed to be worth €1.5m, with an option to buy for a further €5.5m plus easy to achieve add-ons to reach the full €8m fee, becoming an obligation if certain conditions are met.

Meanwhile, Simeone released a video of his own with an emotional message after three years in the Napoli jersey, where he won two Serie A titles.

“Dear Napoli, you don’t know how difficult it is for me to write this message, as I tried many times to think how and what to write, but it’s so difficult.

“These have been tough days, I just want to thank you for all that you did for me. From the first day, I felt your support and your passion. I only tried to repay all that you gave to me.

“Now I understand the saying, ‘You cry twice in Naples, once when you arrive, then when you leave.’ Ah yes… you were right.

“However, I have not left, because I have friends, memories and history here, a history that nobody can ever forget. And Napoli will remain forever with me, wherever I go.

“I want to thank you for everything. Teammates, staff, doctors, physios, kit staff, chefs and all those who work at Napoli behind the scenes, you carry the responsibility of making many Neapolitans happy.

“And you fans, because without you, Napoli is not Napoli. You make this club great! You Neapolitans make people fall in love with Naples. You are special.

“Forza Napoli always! Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

The 30-year-old first joined Napoli from Hellas Verona in 2022 and went on to make 103 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists.
