Sunday evening saw Olympique Lyonnais earn three vital points in their bid to avoid the drop in Ligue 1 Uber Eats this season. Pierre Sage’s side benefited from a decisive strike via an in-form Alexandre Lacazette to allow Les Gones to win against Olympico rivals Marseille (1-0) at the Groupama Stadium.
The former France international has been a shining light in otherwise a dark season for Lyon fans, now netting his 10th goal for Les Gones this season. The former Arsenal man is in hot form, scoring in four straight matches, with seven goals coming in his last six appearances in Ligue 1.
Laca sets himself 20-goal objective
“I’d like to hit 20 goals this season, that would be great. I think if I score 20 goals, I can help the club stay up,” the former Arsenal player told Amazon Prime Video following the victory against OM. If he can hit that number, he certainly would. Last season the 32-year-old was one of Ligue 1’s top scorers after netting 27 goals in 35 appearances.
Lyon’s battle against the drop will have to wait, however, with midweek action in the Coupe de France beckoning for Lacazette and his teammates. It won’t be an easy task either in the round of 16 of the competition, having to face a confident Lille LOSC side who come off the back of drubbing Clermont by a 4-0 margin. But if Lacazette shows his finest form, Lyon will have a good chance of reaching the quarter-finals.
