Amorim announces Garnacho ‘CHANGE’ as club ‘CONFIDENT’ of five-year deal

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim says there has been a “change” in the situation of Alejandro Garnacho amid claims that the Argentina international is close to completing a permanent move away from Old Trafford.

Garnacho is among the players that Man Utd have in the shop window in January as they seek to fend off a potential PSR crisis. Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford are also in the same position as the 20-year-old.

FootballTransfers revealed on Wednesday that Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs following the former Atletico Madrid youngster, yet it is Napoli who appear closest to landing the winger.

Il Mattino reports that the Serie A club are “confident” of landing the player on a five-year deal. This is worth €3m per season, according to the Naples source.

There is no guarantee of a deal, with Napoli and Man Utd distant in their valuations of the player. While the Red Devils want around €80 million for Garnacho – more than Napoli received for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from PSG – the Serie A club are only willing to bid €50m.

Garnacho’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €37.1m.

Garnacho in line to start against Southampton?

Garnacho was dramatically left out of the Manchester derby by Amorim along with Marcus Rashford, but unlike the Englishman, he has fought his way back into the matchday squad on a regular basis.

The coach seems to have been impressed with this and a first Premier League start since 7 December could be on the cards on Thursday against Southampton.

“He’s finding the best way to play in this system. He’s improving during training. He started the last game. Let’s see tomorrow. I think he changed the way he sees himself,” the Man Utd boss said.

With Amorim’s willingness to reintegrate players who show a positive attitude and Napoli’s inability to meet the Red Devils’ transfer demands, Garnacho’s Old Trafford career may not be over yet.
