A laser-focused Arne Slot says he does not care when or where Liverpool win the Premier League title – and his only concern is beating Leicester next Sunday.

The Reds can be crowned champions next weekend if Arsenal lose at Ipswich and they win at the King Power Stadium, after Slot’s men scored an 89th-minute winner to beat West Ham on Sunday.

And Slot says he is not fazed by talk of his team closing in, nor is he bothered by the pending announcement that Virgil Van Dijk has extended his stay at the club by two years.

‘I don’t care where we win it,’ said the Dutchman, whose side won via goals from Van Dijk and Luis Diaz after Andy Robertson conceded an 86th-minute own goal to bring West Ham level.

‘We know we have to win two more games. Which has been in 32 occasions difficult enough. First win two and that is the only thing we should focus on and improve more and more to give us a better chance to win. What I saw is for the first time in 11 games Leicester scored two so they are more confident.

‘We still have to win two games, so we should be completely focused on that. And in the meantime a contract extension could happen but my full focus is on Leicester and Virgil’s is as well.’

As Mail Sport reported last week, Van Dijk is on the verge of following Mohamed Salah in signing a new two-year deal at the club.

Slot also said that striker Darwin Nunez missed the game through illness – even though the Uruguayan was spotted sat in the stands.

Meanwhile, West Ham boss Graham Potter said this was the best performance of his tenure.

The Hammers gave Liverpool an almighty scare and would have been deserving of a point if they hung on at the end, with Reds goalkeeper Alisson making several strong stops at 1-0 to keep his side in a winning position.

‘The performance was really positive, probably the best since we have been here,’ said Potter, whose side are now 17th. ‘The balance between defence and attack was good against a top team in an emotional environment.

‘Liverpool started really well. We showed resilience which hasn’t always been there and grew into the game.

‘Points wise we haven’t got the points we would like, but you have to zoom out and see what we have had to deal with. But what we have done is be competitive and made an attacking improvement.

‘We need to do more to get the results we could get. Fine lines, could have had three points against Everton but conceded late, could have had three against Newcastle.’
