Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney will depart the Emirates Stadium this month on a loan deal to his former club Celtic. It is understood that the Scottish club will pay around half of the 27-year-old’s salary, and that Tierney is desperate to complete a permanent move back to the Scottish champions.
Injuries have constantly stalled Tierney’s progress at Arsenal, and at one point the Scotsman had been suggested as a possible captain of the club. However, since moving to England in 2019, Tierney has only played 91 Premier League games and had a spell last season on loan with Real Sociedad in Spain.
Arsenal have had numerous injury problems this season and Tierney made his first appearance for the club in almost a year when he played for the Gunners in the Carabao Cup, but manager Mikel Arteta insists that there is no future for Tierney at the club.
Tierney is desperate to play regular first-team football and force his way back in to Scotland’s international setup and a move to Celtic will offer some first-team football that the defender desperately craves.
