Atalanta make profit from Latte Lath record 21.25m MLS sale

The famous Atalanta youth academy is still managing to bring in fresh revenue, as the club benefits from Emmanuel Latte Lath’s transfer from Middlesbrough to Atlanta United FC.

La Dea won the Europa League last season and are through to the Champions League play-offs, where they will face Club Brugge for a place in the Round of 16.

Their recent success has been achieved along with consistently making a profit, which is largely due to developing players and selling them on for huge sums.

Another reason is their prolific youth academy and that has churned out talents who continue to hit the headlines.

Atalanta churn out talents like Latte Lath and Diallo

One of them is striker Latte Lath, who started his career in the Atalanta academy as a teenager and was eventually sold to Middlesbrough in 2012 for €5.35m.

As part of that deal, they were also owed a 10 per cent cut of his future transfer fee and that is now coming back to them.

The Ivory Coast international has just completed a move to Atlanta United FC for €21.25m, an all-time record buy for Major League Soccer.

Therefore, the Serie A side benefit with added revenue of €1.8m from this sale.

Other Atalanta youth products who are flourishing include Manchester United forward Amad Diallo.
