Atletico Madrid keeper Jan Oblak has aimed a dig at former team-mate and Barcelona loanee Joao Felix before the two meet in a mouth-watering LaLiga clash this weekend.

The two sides currently sit on 31 points in the league, with Atletico only ahead on goal difference.

They will play on Sunday night at 8pm, with Xavi‘s side hoping to close the gap on league leaders Real Madrid

On Thursday, Oblak’s team-mate Antoine Griezmann made the shock declaration that Felix was not consistent enough at Atletico and that is why he left to join Barcelona on loan.

He said: ‘In the end, when you get here, you know more or less what the coach and the team are like. Either you adapt and work for it or things don’t work out for you. Joao worked very well at times, but you have to be consistent.

‘There were times when he got tired and didn’t see himself here. That’s why he’s made the effort [to leave] and the club has also made the effort to give him a way out.’

Now, Oblak has echoed his team-mates claims by telling Football Espana that he was not always consistent in training.

‘I’m sure that [the minutes Felix is getting] are extremely important, not only for Joao but also for any player, he said.

‘But you have to prove it on the pitch and during training that you deserve to be in the lineup. You have to give your best so that the coach can trust you, and this doesn’t just apply to Joao.’

The Slovenian goalkeeper also added: ‘He knows me and I know him, he knows the team perfectly. Joao is a high-quality player who can do wonderful things that are completely unexpected.

‘I think every game is a completely different story and it doesn’t matter if we know each other perfectly or not.’
