Barcelona are trying to make a late swoop for Liverpool youngster Stefan Bajcetic, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds talent burst onto the scene two seasons ago, playing a surprisingly prominent role under Jurgen Klopp. However, his progress was halted by an injury and he missed most of last term.

Now back to fitness, Bajcetic desperately needs senior minutes and, like with many other Liverpool talents, it is not set in stone that he would get them under new coach Arne Slot.

Several of Liverpool’s prospects have already left the club. Bobby Clark, for example, recently completed a permanent transfer to RB Salzburg, now coached by Klopp’s former assistant Pep Lijnders.

Bajcetic looked poised to follow his ex-teammate to Austria on a loan move, but Barcelona are now trying to hijack the deal.

Barcelona make Bajcetic offer

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blaugrana have submitted a late loan offer of their own for the defensive midfielder. This comes in the wake of La Masia graduate and new starting No.6 Marc Bernal injuring his ACL against Rayo Vallecano on Tuesday.

Barcelona are prepared to pay a loan fee worth a whopping €4 million and are willing to forego any kind of option or obligation to sign the teenager permanently next summer.

Given the money involved and the structure of the deal, this will surely be a tempting proposal as far as Liverpool are concerned, while RB Salzburg are unlikely to be able to compete with the allure of Barcelona.

Sky Sports is reporting that Liverpool have rejected a bid from Bayer Leverkusen for Tyler Morton and that he is now expected to stay at the club, ostensibly making a departure of Bajcetic all the more likely. Whether Barcelona will be able to register him is a different question, of course.
