Brentford suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend on their trip to St James’ Park, where they fell to a 1-0 loss to Newcastle, but the West London side will still be happy with how their campaign has started.
Thomas Frank’s side sit 11th in the table heading into the weekend and will be confident of breaking back into the top half of the league with a positive result against a struggling Everton side on Saturday.
The Bees start the weekend just three points off the top seven and have a far better goal difference than all of the teams around them.
One thing that may worry Brentford fans heading into Saturday evening’s Premier League kick-off is that despite having lost just one of their six matches in all competitions this season, they have also won only one league match this season, and are currently winless at home.
Everton fans have bigger things to worry about though, with their side having picked up just one point from their opening five league matches of the season, and currently find themselves down in the relegation zone.
It looks likely to be a third consecutive relegation dogfight for the Toffees this season, having only survived the drop on the final day of the season last time out, and achieving the same feat with a game to spare the year before.
To make matters worse for Sean Dyche’s side, the Merseyside club have only scored in one of their five matches this season, and are the joint lowest scorers in the division with just two to their name.
Everton do have a decent recent record against the Bees though, having won two of the last four matches they’ve played against them, but have only one away win against Brentford in their history, which came way back in 1952.
Dyche has won four of his five matches he’s managed against Brentford though, including two of the three matches he’s managed against Frank in their managerial careers.
