Brighton fans taunt Chelsea with cheeky Billy Gilmour song during Carabao Cup tie

Brighton fans grasped the opportunity to taunt Chelsea on their trip to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.

The Seagulls saw star defender Marc Cucurella and manager Graham Potter leave the AMEX for west London last season.

After already leaving a bitter taste in Brighton fans’ mouths, Chelsea then bought star midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer for a British-record fee of £115m on an eight-year contract, too.

Of course, Brighton ended last season above the club that had raided them, finishing sixth, 18 points above 12th-placed Chelsea.

But it seems Seagulls fans still haven’t forgotten about the Blues nicking some of their best assets.

Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour left Stamford Bridge for Brighton in the summer of 2022, and with the Scotland international on the bench against his former club, the away end saw the perfect opportunity to take a swipe at the Blues in their Carabao Cup meeting.

“He left because you’re s***, he left because you’re s***, Billy Gilmour, he left because you’re s***,” the away end belted out in the first half.

Gilmour has started four out of Brighton’s six Premier League fixtures this campaign, providing one assist in that time.

The Seagulls are currently third in the league, whilst Chelsea sit in 14th.
