Chelsea enquire over Sporting Lisbon teenager Dario Essugo – as Blues look to bring in midfield reinforcements on transfer deadline day

Chelsea have made an enquiry into the availability of Sporting Lisbon star Dario Essugo.

Essugo, 19, has spent the season on loan with Spanish outfit Las Palmas and has impressed with his displays in the heart of midfield throughout 2024-25.

The young midfielder has scored one goal in 14 matches during his time in LaLiga and has drawn the attention of the west London giants.

Mail Sport understands that the Blues have enquired over Essugo’s availability as they look to bring in a midfielder during transfer deadline day

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also agreed a deal to sign Mathis Amougou from St-Etienne ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.

The Blues have been looking to boost their midfield options, and the deal will be worth over £10million.

The 19-year-old has played for France at Under-18 level and is set to join Chelsea today.

Chelsea have been enquiring over a number of young midfielders over the past week – including both Essugo and Amougou

Amougou has impressed in Ligue 2 this season, establishing himself as a key player for St-Etienne despite his young age.

A dynamic and technically gifted midfielder, he is known for his ability to break up play and drive forward with the ball. The teenager had drawn interest from several other European clubs.

Elsewhere, Chelsea outcast Joao Felix is on the brink of joining AC Milan on a loan.

The 25-year-old has started just three Premier League games this season after joining Enzo Maresca‘s side from Atletico Madrid for £46million in the summer.

Aston Villa had expressed interest in signing Felix this January with president of football operations Monchi last week revealing that the club had tried to bring him to the Midlands ‘practically every market’.

But after Villa instead did loan business for Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, Felix is now likely to move to Italy.
