Chelsea have been dreaming of signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen for months, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been told they can do better than the Nigeria international.
The Stamford Bridge outfit may be languishing in a mid-table position in the Premier League, but that has not stopped them being linked with world-class talent.
Osimhen had been foremost among these players, yet some doubt has been cast on Chelsea’s ability to land the 25-year-old as PSG are ready to step up their interest in the ex-Lille hitman.

The Blues have been told that instead of chasing the Nigerian, they should seriously consider Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane as an alternative.
Stan Collymore claims in his Caught Offside column it’s a deal that could be struck.
“I think secretly he wants to come home, and if you were Manchester United, potentially with a new manager and under new ownership, the signing of Kane would represent cache and intent,” he says.

“Chelsea also could use not only his goals but his experience to help the young pups along. I thought earlier on this season that he should stay and fight Bayer next season to get the title back but I’m particularly warming to Kane to Chelsea.
“They have the cash, it’s his city and they desperately need some calm heads around the place, people you can rely on.
“They don’t come calmer than Kane and the fact he knows Poch so well may be the focus that the manager and owner need to get the Blues back firing towards that top four.”
Kane v Osimhen
Future prediction (with uncertainty range)
-
Harry Kane
-
Victor Osimhen
Although Kane is now 30, the England captain is a member of the best five centre-forwards in the world, according to data analytics firm SciSports, who rate him considerably higher than Osimhen.
The former Tottenham striker has 32 goal in 29 Bundesliga matches as Thomas Tuchel’s side fell short in the defence of their title but he has also struck seven times in 10 Champions League outings. Bayern are into the semis in Europe, where they will face Real Madrid.
Osimhen, meanwhile, has endured a relatively disappointing season with Napoli, though his motivation has been visibly diminished after an agreement to allow him to move on this year was struck last summer.
Kane, though, would not be an easy signing. His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is €105m – making him the sixth most valuable player in the world.
