Chiellini recommended for Juventus and Motta: How the former captain could help – Football Italia – March 18 latest

The crisis of results at Juventus has led outlets in Italy to recommend calling on former Bianconeri captain Giorgio Chiellini to lend a helping hand to Thiago Motta and the team in an unofficial role behind the scenes. Here is how the 40-year-old could be of service. 

Papers recommend Chiellini to save Juventus 

Corriere dello Sport have run an opinion piece from editor Ivan Zazzaroni on Tuesday, suggesting that Juventus should call upon Chiellini to help Thiago Motta and the team through their ongoing crisis of results. 

Chiellini, who won nine Serie A titles over 17 seasons in the Juve first team, has been working with the club as the head of football institutional relations since September, but recent reports claim the club are looking to promote him to a different role at the end of the season, potentially working closely with technical director Cristiano Giuntoli. 

Zazzaroni claims that Chiellini could offer Juventus a helping hand in the more immediate future, though. 

He feels that Chiellini ‘is’ Juventus, symbolising everything that is great about the club. He feels that Chiellini could be an enormous help in and around the dressing room, not as a replacement for Thiago Motta, but as a motivator and a point of reference for the young Bianconeri players. 

Zazzaroni feels that Chiellini would be able to help Juventus by setting the required standards and reminding the players of what it means to represent the club, without treading on Motta’s toes.
