Borussia Mönchengladbach’s interim coach, Eugen Polanski, looks likely to be given the job permanently.

According to Bild, a contract running until 2028 is on the table, featuring “pre-defined scenarios for success and failure.”

Gladbach are reportedly determined to avoid the kind of hefty severance payments they’ve had to make in the past to coaches such as Gerardo Seoane, Adi Hütter and Daniel Farke.

Following Gladbach’s 3-1 derby win over 1. FC Köln on Saturday – their third consecutive victory in all competitions – head of sport Rouven Schröder hinted that Polanski has a good chance of being named head coach on a permanent basis.

Polanski himself said:

“I speak with Rouven almost every day and come to work here with a smile on my face. They don’t have to give me a new contract just because we won the derby. What matters to me is that the club believes in my work – and that’s the feedback I’m getting. I’m already employed at Borussia, and I’m not working for peanuts.”
