‘DEAL ON’ – Romano drops EXCITING Man Utd transfer update

Manchester United are holding fresh talks with Lecce over Patrick Dorgu after seeing their first two bids rejected, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils are determined to land the Denmark international despite his hefty price tag. Serie A relegation-battlers Lecce are demanding a whopping €40 million for the 20-year-old and this saw them price Chelsea and Tottenham out of a move in the summer.

Man Utd, on the other hand, are prepared to shell out a significant fee for the versatile youngster who can play left-back and further forward on the wing.

So far, two bids from the Red Devils have fallen short of Lecce’s valuation, with the first clocking in at €27 million and the second in excess of €30m. Not to be deterred, Man Utd remain locked in talks with their Italian counterparts to get the deal done.

Man Utd to make new Dorgu bid

According to Fabrizio Romano, Man Utd are presently, on Monday, in fresh negotiations with Lecce over Dorgu. The transfer insider states that the deal is ‘on,’ with Man Utd readying an improved third offer.

Personal terms with the boyhood Chelsea fan have already been agreed, Romano reports, with Dorgu keen on playing in the Premier League. There appears to be optimism that a deal can be done despite Lecce’s game of ‘brinkmanship,’ as Sky Sports has termed it.

Meanwhile, Ben Jacobs reports that an upfront fee of €35m could be enough to get Lecce to sell if achievable bonuses are included in the package. Given the relatively small gap in valuation, the Red Devils could reach a breakthrough as early as today, although they insist that they will not overpay.

If Man Utd can strike a deal for Dorgu, Tyrell Malacia would be expected to leave the club before the window shuts. Several clubs from around Europe are said to have enquired about the Dutchman.
