Kylian Mbappe is struggling to cope with the frequent criticism levelled at him, according to a report.
The Real Madrid superstar is coming under fire from all sides. In France, he stands accused of abandoning the national team despite being the captain and in Spain, he is getting slammed for his uninspiring performances.
Eder Militao’s season-ending injury at the weekend has laid bare the true cost of signing Mbappe, who despite being a ‘free’ transfer prevented Los Blancos from acquiring defensive cover.

With the international break now having kicked off, Mbappe is once again the topic of discussion in his home country. There has been talk of a rift between the 25-year-old and Didier Deschamps and he is allegedly refusing to play for France again as long as the latter remains in charge.
Whatever the case, it is clear that Mbappe expected this season to go differently and the frequent criticism is taking its toll, according to L’Equipe journalist Antoine Simonneau.
Mbappe in a ‘state of depression’
Speaking to Carrusel Deportivo, the reporter explained: “He is a player who is currently in a state of depression and has many problems. He has lost a lot of popularity. He is the focus of many people’s anger because he does not have the attitude of a captain and that is very annoying in France.
“I think there is some kind of psychological problem with Kylian because you can see that he is not the same on the pitch, he is not obedient either, we do not see him enjoying himself. All this, seeing that he is not loved in his country as he would like to be loved, I think causes a general malaise and has repercussions on the football pitch.”

In a similar vein, France teammate Ibrahima Konate admitted that he ‘doesn’t want Mbappe’s life’ while speaking to Canal+. “When he’s with us, the journalists, everyone is around him. Mbappe today, the place he has in this world, it’s exceptional.
“I often tell him: ‘Your level of football, I want it, but your life, I don’t want it.’ Because, frankly, it’s very difficult that his name is everywhere. At the slightest thing, we’re constantly talking about him.”
