Borussia Dortmund have been keeping a very keen eye on Chido Obi-Martin, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Bundesliga giants have made a name for themselves by poaching young talent from England and turning them into elite players. Midfielder Jude Bellingham signed for Real Madrid for a whopping €103 million in the summer, following in the footsteps of €85m Jadon Sancho, who has since returned to the club from Man Utd.

Dortmund are hoping that they can do similar with Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, while they will also have an option of first refusal on Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen. The Dutchman has already revealed that he would be open to remaining with the Black and Yellow and he too, though he won’t come cheap, could be flipped for a lot of money further down the line.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, there is another young player based in England who has caught the eye of Dortmund’s scouts.

BVB keen on Arsenal starlet

According to the Italian transfer expert, 16-year-old striker Chi Obi-Martin of Arsenal has been watched on several occasions by German scouts and they have liked what they’ve seen.

The Dane has scored seven goals in nine games for his country’s U17s and previously represented England. Earlier this term, Obi made headlines for notching ten goals in one game against Liverpool’s U16s in a 14-3 away win. The 16-year-old has already featured for Arsenal at the U21 and U19 levels.

“Chido Obi, this Arsenal wonderkid was recently linked with Borussia Dortmund. Of course, BVB are always tracking talents around the world, they know the boy well and they’ve been scouting him multiple times, but there’s nothing else so far,” Romano told CaughtOffside.

The Italian insists that the Gunners will not entertain letting the youngster leave, at least not anytime soon. “He’s an important piece of Arsenal’s future and so there’s nothing imminent happening.”
