Eberl gives update on Bayern's contract talks with Davies, Kimmich and Sané

In a wide-ranging interview with Sport Bild, Bayern boss Max Eberl has given an update on the club’s contract talks with Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sané.

A number of key Bayern Munich players are out of contract in 2025, including Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sané.

Bayern have been in negotiations with Davies for some time, but have yet to reach an agreement with the Canada international, with reports suggesting that the parties are far apart on salary and that Real Madrid are monitoring the player’s situation.

Speaking to Sport Bild, Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said that talks are still ongoing and that Davies has received an offer from the club.

“Negotiations have been going on for a long time, but they stopped a bit last summer. We are working on it,” said Eberl.

“Real Madrid have not contacted us. I can say that we have made Alphonso a very concrete and appreciative offer. At some point in life you have to say yes or no.”

He also confirmed that he has recently held talks with Joshua Kimmich, whose future is said to be up in the air.

“Yes, I spoke to ‘Josh’ recently,” Eberl said.

On the fact that Kimmich doesn’t have an agent, Eberl added:

“This is rather unusual, I only experienced this kind of independence with Martin Stranzl in Gladbach. A player who knows what he wants, with whom you can talk face to face: That makes things easier.”

As for Leroy Sané, Eberl was asked if the winger’s contract will only be extended if he’s willing to accept a salary below the €20 million he currently earns.

“I don’t want to talk about money. The contracts were signed in full awareness of both parties. Money is part of it,” Eberl said.

“Leroy has outstanding qualities, but he also has fluctuations from time to time. We have to decide with him: What does he want, what are his plans for the future? Does he have the desire to go into the future with us, to make a difference? In general, it’s always about commitment to the club.”
