England wonderkid makes contract U-TURN amid Man Utd interest

Tyler Dibling could be set to reject a contract extension at Southampton in favour of leaving the club in 2025.

The teenager has enjoyed a breakout season at St Mary’s and he has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United also monitoring his progress on the south coast.

Dibling has made 17 first-team appearances across all competitions so far this campaign, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

Although Southampton are eager to retain Dibling, he has stalled on signing a new deal as he feels “disrespected” by how negotiations have been handled.

That is according to talkSPORT, who report that Southampton now face the prospect of losing Dibling, in addition to a possible relegation from the Premier League.

Tyler Dibling to Man Utd?

Dibling had been expected to sign a new deal at St Mary’s, with former Southampton boss Russell Martin recently admitting that he was eager to pen fresh terms with the Saints.

Martin, who was sacked following a 5-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, told reporters ahead of the game: “I was told some rumours about Man Utd, one was a bid of £21m. I’m not sure you’ll get his left foot for that!

“We have offered him a contract, a really good contract for someone his age. At the minute, I don’t think his agent agrees, so that’s where we’re at.

“I think Tyler wants it done, I think Tyler’s parents want it done, so we’ll see how long that takes.

“There is an option. We can extend. I don’t think we want to do that – we want to reward Tyler for his performances.

“I’ve spoken to Tyler’s mum and dad about it, I’ve spoken to Tyler, but then I’m not involved in any of the negotiations – that’s down to Phil [Parsons, chief executive] and the gang, the owners and Tyler’s agent – and that’s where it gets tricky.”

Dibling’s current Southampton contract is due to expire in 2027, while the England U21 international’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €8.1 million.
