Everton intend to discuss a contract extension with Sean Dyche – but the uncertainty caused by their 10-point deduction has delayed formal talks.
Since his arrival in January, the former Burnley boss has rejuvenated the Toffees, sparing them from relegation last season and leading them to a relatively impressive 14 point haul this campaign.
The current Toffees regime are keen to discuss the prospect of a longer contract with Dyche, who has just 18 months left to run on his current deal.
However, the brutal Premier League points deduction for breaches of financial rules has resulted in those plans, at least temporarily, being put on hold while the club handle the ramifications of a Premier League ruling that leaves them second bottom of the table.
Dyche has brought an air of positivity to Everton since his appointment as Frank Lampard‘s replacement at the start of 2023 and helped improve the team on a minimal transfer budget.

And there is a feeling behind the scenes at Goodison Park that Dyche should remain central to a new era at the club as they prepare to move to a new stadium within the next two years.
But dealing with the upheaval created by the crippling points deduction is the club’s current priority as they fight a relegation fight they looked likely to escape prior to the recent ruling.
Everton are also subject to a takeover from 777 Partners, which if ratified, may change the course Dyche’s future.
But recent reports have indicated that the deal has stalled over various financial issues.
