Fernandinho RAGES at referee who accidentally blocked his pass in Brazil… as ex-Man City star fronts up to the official with bizarre gestures but avoids punishment

  • Fernandinho was livid at a referee who accidentally got in the way of a pass
  • His gestures and expressions in the referee’s face were certainly theatrical

Fernandinho found a theatrical way to fume at a referee who blocked his pass in Brazil.

The midfielder, 38, was aghast when the official lumbered in the way, with his Atletico Paranaense side drawing 0-0 in a state semi-final match.

After the mishap, Fernandinho got in the face of the referee and rigidly waved his arms up and down, gritting his teeth in a dramatic expression.

He proceeded to put his head in his hands and hunch over, considerably vexed at the innocuous error.

His side went on to win the game 1-0 and advance to the final of the Parana state competition. They have won four of the last six titles.

Why he was so worked up 22 minutes into the match with his side leading 2-1 on aggregate was unclear. He was not carded for his anger.

However, Manchester City fans may remember his occasional outbursts from his nine seasons in England.

After City crashed out of the 2018/19 Champions League quarter-finals to Tottenham, he couldn’t resist a little ‘f*** VAR’ tantrum.

VAR had ruled out Raheem Sterling’s goal that would have sent them through as Sergio Aguero was deemed offside in the build-up.

Fernandinho left City in 2022 to return to Atletico Paranaense, his boyhood club.

He is closing in on 200 apparances for them, having spent the first three years of his career blossoming with them before joining Shakhtar Donetsk.
