FIFA crypto coin surges 142,000% after wild Donald Trump claim in White House address

A cryptocurrency named FIFA COIN has been surging since US President Donald Trump teased the potential of a coin built around the highly-anticipated World Cup next summer.

The FIFA Club World Cup trophy appeared at the White House Crypto Summit, which added flare to the high-profile event focused on digital assets and blockchain policy.

Speaking at the event, FIFA president Gianni Infantino suggested that the football federation is ‘very, very interested under my presidency to develop the FIFA coin.

‘So if there is anyone interested in teaming up with FIFA, we’ll conquer the world of soccer with the FIFA coin,’ Infantino added.

Seemingly excited by the idea, Trump joked ‘That coin may be worth more than FIFA in the end.’

‘It could be quite a coin, actually,’ he added.

US President Donald Trump claimed a FIFA cryptocurrency ‘may be worth more than FIFA’

After Trump’s remarks, a cryptocurrency named FIFA COIN (FIFA) spiked by 142,000 percent, reaching a market capitalization of approximately $3million.

FIFA COIN saw heightened trading volumes, with a 24-hour trading volume of $0.65 and a price of $0.0645 on decentralized exchanges like Uniswap. However, FIFA COIN has no official affiliation with FIFA or the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

That said, crypto investors are advised to be cautious as opportunistic meme coins frequently emerge behind major public events or statements from influential figures.

Apart from FIFA, the event featured some of the biggest names in crypto, including Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, MicroStrategy’s Michael Saylor, and Kraken CEO Arjun Sethi. Furthermore, Trump reiterated his commitment to making the United States the global leader in crypto.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. This would be the first time the tournament will be co-hosted by three countries.

An expanded 48-team format will feature 104 matches, making 2026 the largest World Cup in history.

The United States will have 11 host cities, while Mexico and Canada will have three and two, respectively. The final is set to take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
