Five players who could join Real Madrid this summer

Real Madrid are once again looking to make a statement in the transfer market.

After signing the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Jude Bellingham in recent years, Los Blancos will yet again splash the cash this summer.

It has been football’s worst-kept secret in recent months that PSG megastar Kylian Mbappe is on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu, but despite the astronomical financial outlay required to sign him, the Frenchman likely won’t be the only big name to arrive.

Here are five players who could join Real Madrid this summer…

Kylian Mbappe (PSG)

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way first. Kylian Mbappe has been flirting with Real Madrid for several years and, after brutally snubbing them at the last minute in 2022, he will finally fulfil his childhood dream this summer.

Though nominally a free transfer, Real Madrid will have to shell out a ridiculous signing-on fee on the Frenchman, which could severely hamper their other business.

Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)

Another fairly obvious one is Alphonso Davies’ potential move to Spain. The Bayern Munich left-back is in a contract stalemate with his club and it appears as though no extension is forthcoming.

This means that the Bavarians will cash in on the Canadian this summer to avoid losing him for nothing next year. Real Madrid, it is claimed, have been working on this deal since at least October 2023 and they are only waiting for the final green light from Bayern to make a formal approach.

Miguel Gutierrez (Girona)

Perhaps the most low-key transfer Real could make this summer is bringing back Miguel Gutierrez. The former Castilla full-back has impressed at Girona and there have been suggestions that Los Blancos could utilise their €8 million buy-back clause.

The acquisition of Davies could yet change those plans, but expect Gutierrez to don the famous white next term if Real fail to land the Canadian. Alternatively, they could target Girona teammate Yan Couto, a right-back on the books at Man City. The Brazilian recently admitted that it would be an honour to play for Los Blancos.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

File this one under the more unrealistic potential deals. Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s contract talks – or lack thereof – with the right-back’s current deal expiring in 2025.

Liverpool are yet to start negotiations over fresh terms for their vice-captain. Despite some suggestions that Real could launch a bid this summer, it seems much more likely that they will play the long game and wait until next year before formalising their interest.

Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton)

Another difficult deal for Los Blancos should they land Mbappe and Davies, Jarrad Branthwaite continues to be linked with the Spanish giants. The Everton youngster is enjoying a breakout season and this has attracted the attention of his former Toffees coach Carlo Ancelotti, who handed him his first-team debut.

A move this summer will be tough given the outlay on Mbappe and Davies, but perhaps it is not impossible especially if Everton get relegated. However, FootballTransfers understands that Man Utd are the club who are seriously pushing for Branthwaite’s signature.
