Cody Gakpo has taken aim at Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham on social media.
The Dutchman made his mark in the 76th minute with a crucial goal in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Los Blancos. And after the conclusion of the game, Gakpo made a huge dig at Bellingham on social media.
He uploaded a picture of himself and Bellingham side by side during the game. The caption referred to part of the scripture. “James 4:6: God imposes the proud, but prasies the humble,” it read.

Bellingham was extensively linked with a move to Anfield in the summer of 2023. It was thought that he would join, but in the end, he departed Borussia Dortmund to sign for Real Madrid in a deal worth
€103 million.

During the encounter at Anfield, both he and his team-mate Kylian Mbappe were loudly booed by Liverpool supporters, likely because they deiced against joining the Merseyside club, signing for Real instead.
The La Liga giants have really struggeled this season – mostly in the Champions League – and there are already question marks about Mbappe and whether signing him as a free agent on a bumper deal.

Real were without key players during the night. Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Daniel Carvajal all missed the game through varying degrees of injury.
What did Bellingham say?
Bellingham, however, said that it wasn’t an excuse for the loss. “They were better than us. Sometimes we have to be honest,” he said. “We didn’t dominate the game and the chances we had to harm them were not clear-cut. It’s disappointing. We knew it was going to be tough, but we would’ve liked to play better.

“Mbappe gives us a lot and I’m sure he’ll give us a lot in the future. It can happen when you take responsibility. Anyone can miss a penalty and that wasn’t the reason we lost today. It was a collective issue. We win together and we lose together.”
“It’s not an excuse. They also had injuries and players who were not 100%. It’s part of the game and you have to deal with it. When we had the ball we didn’t threaten enough and that’s not because of injuries and players who weren’t there. We didn’t take responsibility. We didn’t take the bull by the horns and they did.”
