Gary Neville insists pundits must fear the SACK as he opens up on dealing with fan harassment and goading

Gary Neville has suggested that pundits must be wary of being sacked as he opens up on the growing harassment and goading from supporters.

The former Man United full back sat down with Mail Sport’s MIKE KEEGAN for an extraordinary interview where he discussed his days as a Red Devil, punditry life and everything in between. 

Part of that discussion revolved around the challenges he faces as an on-screen personality, regularly featuring for Sky Sports and well-known podcast The Overlap.

Neville admitted that fan harassment has become a constant battle and admitted that other pundits should fear lashing out in case of being sacked.

Speaking to Mail Sport, he said: ‘I was harassed three weeks ago at Euston station,’ he recalls of one unhappy trip to London. 

‘Arsenal fan, on Snapchat, he’s walking with me, he’s got me on camera and he’s abusing me, goading me, “you’re f***ing this, you’re f***ing that”.

The Sky Sports star admitted that fan harassment and goading has become a major problem

‘It’s happening more and more and I think anger towards pundits, analysts, people on TV is getting heightened by social media. 

‘You can make a comment about Arsenal, Newcastle, whoever it might be. And all of a sudden, that fanbase is on you.

‘People are trying to goad you a lot. Knowing that the minute you lift your hand, you’re getting sacked.’

As well as his experiences as a pundit, Neville also opened up on business ventures which he’s embarked on and his coaching stint at Spanish club Valencia.
