Graham Potter insists Newcastle’s winner should have been RULED OUT for push by Alexander Isak as West Ham slip to home defeat

Graham Potter raged at Bruno Guimaraes’ goal with the West Ham manager adamant that Newcastle’s winner should have been ruled out because Max Kilman was fouled in the build-up. 

The Brazilian’s goal was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for the Magpies which sends them up to sixth in the table and in the hunt for a Champions League spot. 

However, the goal could — and according to Potter, should — have been ruled out for a foul by Alexander Isak.

As Harvey Barnes‘ cross floated into the box, Isak appeared to push Kilman in the back as the ball floated over the West Ham defender and into the path of Guimaraes.

‘I thought it was a really committed performance from us,’ said Potter.

‘We started the game really well, we started the second half really well. The game ebbed and flowed, it was quite a tight game

‘We’re disappointed with the goal because it looks like there are two hands on the back of our centre back. You can see from the reaction of their player that they think it could have been a foul. 

So, I feel for the players because they absolutely gave everything, a committed performance.’  

Potter and West Ham will next get their chance to put that disappointment behind them when they travel to Everton for Saturday’s Premier League match.
