Guardiola: Manchester City are in trouble

While Manchester City managed to come back from a half time deficit to defeat Red Star Belgrade 3-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday night, it was far from a perfect night for the reigning European champions.

Bernardo Silva had to go off injured and joins a lengthy medical report, which also includes Kevin de Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Mateo Kovacic and John Stones.

Pep Guardiola’s concern

Speaking after the game, Pep Guardiola discussed the Sky Blues’ injury crisis and confirmed that Bernardo Silva will miss multiple games.

“We are in trouble, but I am not going to say that we have a lot of injuries,” he stated.

“We have five really important players injured and to sustain that for a long time would be difficult. But, sometimes it happens.

“It’ll still be a long time to get Kevin [De Bruyne] back, while John [Stones] needs a bit longer.

“Maybe Kovacic is coming back and maybe Jack [Grealish] is one week to 10 days.

“It is what it is and, with the players we do have, we will go for it. As long as we have that mentality, that is good.”

Next up for Manchester City is a clash with Nottingham Forest this weekend.
