Viktor Gyokeres refused to rule out a late transfer when speaking to the media after his hattrick against Farense.

The Swedish goal machine is once again on fire. Gyokeres’ current tally for this nascent season already stands at six goals and three assists in four games.

Last term, the striker notched an absurd 43 goals and 15 assists in 50 outings for Sporting CP, which put him on the map for Europe’s elite. Arsenal have been heavily linked with the 26-year-old and the Gunners retain an interest.

The problem is that Gyokeres boasts a release clause of €100 million, which is a fee that Arsenal do not see as value for money. Additionally, Mikel Arteta does not feel as though there is a desperate need to add another hugely expensive striker to his side.

At this point in the window, Arsenal will only pounce on potential opportunities. Yet, strangely, Gyokeres could still become such an opportunity.

Gyokeres open to move?

FootballTransfers previously revealed that Sporting CP would be willing to compromise on their demands for the Swede, though they would, of course, still demand a hefty fee.

Coach Ruben Amorim recently admitted that Portuguese clubs need to occasionally sell their star players to raise the necessary funds that allow them to remain competitive.

Does this mean that they could look to cash in on Gyokeres in the final days of the window? It is a long shot. However, Gyokeres refused to rule out a late move when speaking to the media after his hattrick against Farense – hit his third hattrick for Sporting – though he did state that he expects to remain in Lisbon.

“I think so, I’ll stay here, but you never know what’s going to happen,” he said. “It doesn’t just depend on me, but I feel very good here. There are things I don’t know, things happen quickly, but I’m not worried about that. I love being here.”
