Harry Kane has officially made the fastest Bayern Munich start in Bundesliga history – and achieved the feat in perfect style.
The England captain scored a hat-trick against Bochum on Saturday to make it seven goals from his first five Bundesliga games – smashing the previous record set by Germany legend Gerd Muller.
Oh, and he got two assists too, meaning he was directly involved in five of Bayern’s goals in the huge 7-0 victory.
Kane took just 12 minutes to score at the Allianz Arena, netting his fifth league goal of the season.
That put the former Tottenham striker level with Muller, Miroslav Klose and Mario Mandzukic for the most goals scored in that amount of Bundesliga fixtures for the club.
Muller racked up 365 Bundesliga goals for Bayern during 15 years at the club between 1964 and 1979 and is widely renowned as Germany’s greatest ever striker.

But Kane was not done there as the German champions raced into a four-goal lead at half-time thanks to goals from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Leroy Sane and Matthijs de Ligt.
Sane’s effort came as a result of a sublime Kane assist as the striker pulled off his trademark move, dropping deep and slicing the Bochum defence wide open to allow the ex-Man City star to slot home.
But there was no stopping Kane, who scored a penalty just minutes into the second-half, becoming the first player in Bayern history to score six times in his first five Bundesliga games.
Kane then provided another assist for 18-year-old ace Mathys Tel to slot home, before England’s all-time top goalscorer then completed his first Bundesliga hat-trick from close range.
That not only extended his new Bayern record to seven goals in five league games for the German giants, it also meant he is the first player on record to be directly involved in ten goals in his first five Bundesliga appearances.
The 7-0 victory also means Bayern smashed seven goals past Bochum without reply for the second year running, with the minnows narrowly avoiding relegation from the top flight last season.
