Kylian Mbappe has threatened legal action against a popular French influencer…over a kebab.

Self-styled ‘humourist’ Mohamed Henni, who has 1.8 million Instagram followers, has been making waves on French social media after revealing that he received a threatening complaint from Kylian Mbappe’s legal team.

A fan of PSG’s bitter rivals Olympique Marseille, Henni owns a kebab shop and has jokingly named one of his creations after Mbappe. As relayed by RMC and GFFN, this has now prompted an angry response from the 25-year-old’s lawyer Delphine Verheyden.

The letter, as revealed by Henni on Instagram, reprimands the influencer for using Mbappe’s name. “Mr. Henni uses Kylian Mbappé’s name for commercial and promotional ends without having obtained explicit prior consent.”

Henni responded by stating that he was “stunned” that “a player of this level has the time to think about me. He is using his time and money to attack me. I am not hurting anyone, I am a humourist. Are you not embarrassed? Launching a legal complaint for absolutely nothing?”

The item that attracted the Real Madrid-bound star’s ire is described as “bakery bread, as round as Mbappé’s head” on Henni’s menu. The influencer asserts that he also has a dish he describes as being “as loaded as [Dimitri] Payet.”

However, the former Marseille and West Ham midfielder has not taken offence. “He is a player with values, Mbappe has completely lost it,” Henni thundered. The social media star has been given seven days to rename his kebab.

Mbappe is evidently very serious about his image and naming rights. Indeed, it has recently been claimed that discussions over his image rights are delaying the negotiations with Real Madrid.

Los Blancos usually split image rights 50/50 with their players, but the Frenchman, like Cristiano Ronaldo before him, appears to be asking for something more like 70/30.
