It’s a match that also saw them become the first team in the history of the Premier League to have eight different goal scorers, excluding own-goals.

One of those who found the back of the net at Bramall Lane was Guimaraes, who has been a fan favourite since his arrival last year.

The Brazilian international agreed a new long-term deal with the club last week as he commits to his future at St. James’ Park, although there is a reported release clause of around £100million.

Just a day after the news broke he starred for Newcastle in their trip to the Steel City, and sent a defiant message to his adoring fans.

When celebrating his goal – the Magpies’ seventh of the match – footage from a supporter captures him energetically pointing to the ground.

“I’m f****** staying!” he could be seen shouting towards the away end, with Newcastle fans cheering in celebration.

Guimaraes then proceeded to kiss the badge as he and his fellow co-stars cruised towards victory.

The 25-year-old picked up his first goal of the season on Sunday, as well as his first assist as he setup Miguel Almiron for the sixth.

Sean Longstaff, Dan Burn, Sven Botman, Callum Wilson, Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak also got onto the scoresheet in what was a truly dominant performance.

It’s a result that has sent Newcastle up to 8th in the Premier League table after what has been a mixed start to the season.

Guimaraes has played in all of their matches thus far and will continue to be a key player under Eddie Howe’s management.

News of him extending his stay at the club will be music to the ears of Newcastle fans, who have been blessed with his quality for so long now.
