Inter hopeful to have Thuram back for Juventus clash – Football Italia

Inter are optimistic that Marcus Thuram will be available for their crucial Serie A clash against Juventus next Sunday, despite seeing their striker forced off early with injury in the first half of their latest home meeting with Fiorentina.

Coach Simone Inzaghi replaced the French forward with Marko Arnautovic after 28 minutes, and his condition has since been a concern as he was reported to have a problem with his left ankle.

Thuram expected to recover in time for Inter’s crucial Juventus clash

However, Corriere dello Sport reports that the 27-year-old only suffered a minor contusion, meaning he is expected to recover in time for Sunday’s high-stakes Derby d’Italia.

The Allianz Stadium fixture will be particularly important for both sides, and Thuram’s return would be a significant boost for Inter, who are eager to continue their push for the Serie A title after reducing their gap to leaders Napoli to one point last weekend.

The striker’s ability to make deep runs and beat defenders in one-on-one duels is unmatched in Inzaghi’s squad, which is why his presence would force Thiago Motta’s side to pay extra attention to the France international.

Thuram is Inter’s leading goalscorer with 13 goals from 24 Serie A appearances, although he has remained scoreless in his last four league games.
