The Dutch international impressed in midfield, grabbing an assist for Luis Diaz’s goal that turned the game around.

However, he then went down off the ball after a lung-busting run towards the box and was subsequently substituted by Jurgen Klopp.

As he hobbled off, it raised fans’ concerns that their new signing may already have a knock…

Klopp has confirmed that he took the midfielder off as he was suffering with cramp.

Posting on social media after the game, TNT Sports reporter Danny Jamieson revealed the news.

He wrote: “Jürgen Klopp told me post-match that Ryan Gravenberch just had a touch of cramp when he came off.

“First time he’s played extended minutes in a long time!”

Gravenberch joined Liverpool in hope of more minutes after his playing time was limited at Bayern Munich.

The 21-year-old struggled to gain a starting spot in the German champions’ line-up during his time at the club.

And therefore, he has not played 90 minutes very regularly over the last couple of years.

So it is no surprise that cramp caught up with Gravenberch against LASK in the 74th minute of the game.

His performance was encouraging though, and Liverpool fans will be very pleased with what they saw.

Klopp most definitely was as he said post-match: “Ryan played a super game and was really decisive for us.”
