Italy manager Luciano Spalletti has said that Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori will be assessed after his freak injury against France on Friday night.
The centre-back started on the left side of the back three for the Azzurri and he produced an assured performance before his substitution.
Calafiori suffered a knock after Ousmane Dembele accidentally kicked his right calf and he was soon substituted in the 71st minute.
Speaking after the game Spalletti said that the defender must be assessed but remained optimistic that he will recover for the next game.
He said after the 3-1 Nations League win over France: “Calafiori must be assessed, but we have good doctors, so we hope he will recover.”
Arsenal recently suffered a huge setback with summer signing Mikel Merino picking up a shoulder injury in his first training session.
The Gunners will be hoping that Calafiori has only picked up a knock and he will be available for the north London derby next weekend.
