Atalanta striker Mateo Retegui will miss Italy’s upcoming UEFA Nations League quarter-final tie against Germany.
The Italian Football Association announced on Wednesday that the 25-year-old has been forced to withdraw from the squad after suffering a muscle strain in his right thigh.
Retegui scored two goals in six appearances for Italy in the group stage of the UEFA Nations League.
The Atalanta forward has found the net 22 times in the Italian Serie A this season.
Italy will also be without Inter’s Federico Dimarco, who is out with a hamstring injury.
The first leg is played in Milan on Thursday, with the return leg taking place in Dortmund on Sunday.
