ITV commentator Clive Tyldesley appeared to aim a cheeky dig at Kate Middleton during Saturday’s FA Cup clash between Wolves and Coventry.
His comment came shortly after Ellis Simms opened the scoring for Championship side in the quarter-final tie at Molineux.
A lengthy VAR check followed the goal in the 53rd minute, with the official checking whether Simms’ effort should be ruled out for handball.
As replays were shown, veteran commentator Tyldesley quipped: ‘What you have to take into account now with the hand is, is it photoshopped?’
The rematk earned a chuckle from co-commentator Ally McCoist, before Tyldesley added: ‘And I don’t think it is in this case.’

The remark sparked a debate on social media with one user saying: ‘Kate Middleton catching strays in the FA cup from Clive Tyldesley.’
Another said: ‘Clive Tyldesley with a reference to Kate Middleton’s photoshop there, very good.’
A third football fan took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to say: ‘The best commentator about a shame he isn’t the lead for ITV.’
Tyldesley’s comment was in reference to the photoshop drama Kate was involved in earlier this week.
Kate apologised for editing a Mother’s Day picture as she continues to recover from abdominal surgery.
The princess issued a statement after the Palace came under mounting pressure to reveal the truth behind the photo of Kate and her three children.
The world’s top picture and news agencies – including PA – ‘killed’ the image over claims it had been digitally manipulated.
The picture shows Kate sitting in a chair with her arms around Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who are on either side of her, with Prince George standing behind, as all four smile at the camera.
But there was speculation that edits had been made to the left sleeve of Princess Charlotte’s cardigan, and other areas of the picture also raised concerns about possible manipulation.
In her original social media post on Sunday, Kate thanked the public ‘for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months’.
Within hours of the photo being shared around the world, multiple picture agencies issued a ‘kill notification’ – an industry term used to retract a photo previously handed out to publications.

The Associated Press became the first agency to ‘kill’ the photo over an ‘inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand’.
While AP said there was no suggestion the photo was fake, they retracted it because it said on closer inspection, the source had manipulated the image in a way that did not meet the agency’s photo standards.
AP said its editorial standards state that images must be accurate and that it does not use altered or digitally manipulated images.
The agency’s news values and principles explain that minor photo editing, including cropping and toning and colour adjustments, are acceptable when necessary for clear and accurate reproduction and should maintain the authentic nature of the photograph.
