Jude Bellingham has once again reiterated that he intends to stay at Real Madrid for the next 10 to 15 years.

The midfielder is back on English soil on Wednesday as his Real Madrid face Liverpool on Merseyside. The Reds were, of course, one of the clubs prominently chasing Bellingham in 2023.

The then-Borussia Dortmund star was being heavily linked with Jurgen Klopp’s side in the spring and the early summer weeks, but Liverpool eventually pulled out of the talks because of reported concerns over his price.

Real Madrid would ultimately swoop for Bellingham, shelling out a whopping €103 million upfront in deal that could yet rise to a figure in excess of €130m.

It was money well spent as the Englishman was crucial in his first season in Spain, winning LaLiga’s Player of the Season award after leading the club to domestic and Champions League success.

Bellingham on Liverpool deal and Premier League move

Bellingham spoke to TNT Sports ahead of the game with Liverpool. He was quizzed about the talks with the Reds and if he could see himself playing for the Anfield club in the future.

“I think it wasn’t as close as people made out in the media, I think maybe they led people on a little bit,” he said. “When Madrid came knocking, I felt like that was the perfect club for me.

“But Steven Gerrard is a massive hero of mine. It would be nice to have a Steven Gerrard-esque performance, but it will be very difficult so we’ll see. I’m very happy at Madrid. I think the next 10, 15 years will be in white for me.”

It seems that one of England’s best current midfielders may never play in the Premier League.
