JURGEN KLOPP’S TOP FIVE FUNNIEST MOMENTS: Pulling a hamstring celebrating at Anfield, rapping after winning the Champions League and ‘f***ing mentality giants’!

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season after a glittering nine-year stint on Merseyside.

After an era replete with successes, Klopp has been firmly taken into the hearts of Reds fans for his creative management style, serial trophy wins – and quirky sense of humour.

As the club prepares to call time on the German head coach’s time at Anfield, Mail Sport recaps some of the 56-year-old’s funniest moments.

Sing when you’re (Champions League) winning

Winning a club’s sixth Champions League – and your first as a coach – is not to be sniffed at. And after the jubliatory trophy lift, Klopp was in high spirits and the modd to celebrate.

Utterly relaxed, Klopp took his media duties after the final whistle extremely lightly, and decided to reveal a musical talent on air.

‘Let’s talk about six baby, let’s talk about you and me,’ Klopp crooned, breaking up the interview to the journalist’s delight. ‘Let’s talk about all the good things, and the bad things that may be – let’s talk about six.’

‘That’s a new song,’ the manager said to camera with a grin.

Ye of little faith

Merseyside derbies always come with heightened emotions, but in 2016, Klopp was unable to conceal his laughter when presented with a mis-hit – from one of his own players.

Lucas Leiva picked up the ball 25 yards in front of goal and decided to look for glory – despite his patchy personal record – but when the ball skirted wide, rather than being met with sympathy from his manager, the player would have found a different scene entirely.

Klopp was in hysterics, twisting and turning in his seat to laugh about the gaffe with his colleagues. Hardly the reaction that Lucas might have wanted!.

Lost in translation

Full focus should have been on Liverpool’s upcoming Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain in November 2018, but in his pre-match press conference, the polyglot found himself more than a little distracted from the press briefing at hand.

‘That’s a very erotic voice, by ther way, from the translator’, Klopp noted with surprise after hearing the question put to him. ‘Wow.

‘Again please!’ the manager added laughingly.

But the brief digression was far from the only time that Klopp has commented on the English language.

After an impressive comeback against Barcelona in their May 2019 semi-final second leg, Klopp was too overwhelmed for pleasantries.

‘It’s 10 past 10,’ Klopp said checking his watch. ‘Most of the children are probably in bed, but these boys are f***ing mentality giants, it’s unbelievable.

When pulled up good-naturedly on his language – swiftly bleeped by the network – Klopp added: ‘Fine me if you want.

‘I’m not native so I don’t have better words!’

Another notable incident came when Klopp confused the term ‘brain fog’ with… another word beginning with F, albeit with an extra letter.

‘To my ears, it sounds exactly the same,’ Klopp shrugged to a room full of laughing reporters.

More training necessary

Last year’s clash with Tottenham had no shortage of drama, with the Reds leaving it late – even making the visitors think they’d won it – before clinching the winner deep in added time.

Anfield exploded but few were as animated as Klopp on the touchline, who sprinted towards the fourth official after Diogo Jota’s late strike, only to pull up with a hamstring twang. Klopp was forced to limp back to the bench and received both a yellow card – and a muscle injury.

 Don’t tell Ulla!

Celebrations are usually raucous at Anfield, and it was no difference after January’s home win against Newcastle, but as the Sky Sports camera studied Klopp revving up the crowd, there was a touch of concern as he suddenly stopped to drop his eyes to the pitch itself.

‘Oh he’s pulled his hamstring again,’ Jamie Carragher on commentary wondered, as they watch Klopp retrace his steps before motioning to a steward.

Guessing he might have dropped his wedding ring, Carragher added dryly: ‘the wife will be happy’ – before Klopp retreived his ring from the turf, and kissed it to the delight of the commentators and viewers alike.
