Joshua Kimmich is set to spurn Premier League interest to extend his contract with Bayern Munich after the two parties reportedly reached a breakthrough in negotiations.
Kimmich’s current contract is set to expire this summer and there had been speculation that Bayern were ready to withdraw their renewal offer to the 30-year-old and allow him to become a free agent after he stalled on signing the extension.

However, despite reported approaches from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal in recent weeks, multiple outlets in Germany are now claiming that Kimmich is close to penning a new contract with Bayern.
The midfielder, who has been integral to Bayern since joining in 2015, held talks with the club this week which have been described as ‘very positive’, creating optimism that an agreement is near.
It has even been claimed a formal announcement could be made this week over a four-year extension, with the player seemingly convinced to reject offers from elsewhere.
There had been some suggestions that Kimmich’s demands were proving unreasonable with Real Madrid and Barcelona also linked to a move, however the final details are now being discussed and formalised.

The news would complete a dramatic turnaround in Bayern’s future, having also tied Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala to new long-term contracts in the past month.
Davies had been expected to leave Bayern on a free this summer after rejecting numerous contracts and receiving a significant offer from Real Madrid but the Canadian opted to sign a five-year extension in February.
It was soon followed by Musiala also ending speculation linking him with a move away by signing until 2030 and putting him amongst the club’s highest earners.
With Manuel Neuer also extending his deal until next season, Bayern have tied the majority of their core for the forseeable future, although doubts still remain over some stars.
Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane both see their deals expire at the end of the season, along with Eric Dier, while Dayot Upamecano, Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry will also need their futures resolved as they enter the final 12 months of their deals.
