Kobbie Mainoo is about to make a HUGE mistake

Manchester United have been rocked by the news that Kobbie Mainoo wants to leave the club, but it’s a decision that threatens to ruin his career.

Mainoo was already linked with a transfer away from the Old Trafford club in January, with Chelsea leading the way for the young England midfielder, but the 19-year-old has had a change of heart and wants to move abroad in the summer.

The announcement is likely to attract a great deal of interest from some of Europe’s biggest teams.

Mainoo has no doubt seen the likes of Jude Bellingham and Jamie Gittens move abroad and thrive, but according to data analytics firm SciSports, the teenager would be best reassessing his position at Old Trafford.

Man Utd is Mainoo’s perfect club – even if he doesn’t realise it

On its Career Advice tool, SciSports give each team a Club Fit mark that estimates how good a move can be for a player. This is based around a variety of factors, such as potential development and playing time to style and formation.

Man Utd come out comprehensively the best option for Mainoo to develop his game, earning a score of 83.

While Ruben Amorim’s style only earns two stars, the Red Devils come out well in every other aspect of the game.

Bearing in mind that Mainoo has indicated that he specifically wants to move abroad, these are the three credible options as SciSports analyse it: Roma, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Of this trio, Roma can effectively be ruled out because they would have to get close to doubling their record transfer to land Mainoo while Bayern Munich, with a Club Fit score of 70 are clearly not as good an option for him as a stay at Man Utd.

That leaves Atletico Madrid. Diego Simeone’s side get a mark of 78, which suggests that Mainoo could thrive alongside Conor Gallagher in the Spanish capital.

This is the threat that Man Utd really need to fight off if they are to retain their young star beyond the summer, but if they can do that, there is every reason to believe that Mainoo can go on to find the best version of himself at Old Trafford.
