Liverpool have announced the departure of director of scouting and recruitment Dave Fallows in the latest shake-up in the club’s hierarchy.
The 64-year-old first joined the club in 2012, after previously working for Manchester City, Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers, and was fundamental in helping to construct the side that claimed a string of major honours, including the Premier League and Champions League.
Fallows remained in post over the summer during a time of massive upheaval at Anfield following the departure of Jurgen Klopp, his backroom staff and other key personnel.
‘I have been very privileged to work for this incredible football club,’ he said in a statement on the club’s website. ‘The fantastic people here starting with the supporters make it so special – to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented players and colleagues past and present who are now friends is something I am very grateful for.
‘The leadership here, from ownership, through to Michael [Edwards], Richard [Hughes], Arne [Slot], Billy [Hogan] and Alex [Inglethorpe], is world-class. I have no doubt they will continue to thrive. They are supported by great people across many departments who I will miss working with but will continue to stay close to.’

Michael Edwards, previously sporting director, returned to the club as FSG’s CEO of football
Liverpool have confirmed that Fallows will leave his role at the end of the year.
The summer revamp saw Edwards, previously sporting director at Anfield, return as FSG’s CEO of football, while Richard Hughes was brought in from Bournemouth to replace Jorge Schmadtke, who acted as sporting director for a short time.
Edwards said: ‘Dave has been a trusted colleague for over 10 years and a close friend for two decades.
‘I respect his decision and wish him nothing but success with whatever he does next. He and his family will always be welcome at our club after the contribution he has made. We will miss him.’
Any news of changes in the recruitment department at Anfield is sure to set pulses raises among the fanbase over the ongoing contractual situations of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Arne Sot has remained tight-lipped when questioned on the topic, while Hughes – who spoke to the media in July – refrained from making public statements of the status of negotiations.
The former Cherries chief has had a whirlwind few month since his appointment and he thanked the ongoing Fallows for his guidance during the period.
The Reds still have the contracts of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah to resolve, with all three stars free to leave at the end of the campaign
‘David’s reputation is second to none in his field and his achievements at the club mean he leaves with utmost gratitude and affection,’ Hughes said.
‘It speaks volumes about Dave that he remained with us to help with the transition and settling-in of a new football leadership team, including myself. I will always be grateful for his advice and assistance during this period.’
