Trent Alexander-Arnold to Barca?

Barca have also been linked to Alexander-Arnold. In fact, earlier this month reports suggested that their head coach Hansi Flick is “obsessed” with the idea of signing the Liverpool defender.

The England international is set to become a free agent when his current contract at Anfield expires next summer and he is widely expected to join La Liga giants Real Madrid on a Bosman deal.

However, Barcelona are also interested in landing the 26-year-old and Flick wants the club to make a move as soon as possible, as per El Nacional.

Alexander-Arnold is seen as Real Madrid’s ‘dream’ target for next summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, but Flick is “obsessed” with securing his services in 2025.

Jules Kounde is currently Barcelona’s first choice right-back, however the France international is naturally a centre-back, and he has been tipped to leave Camp Nou next year amid interest from multiple Premier League clubs.

Alexander-Arnold has now emerged as Barcelona’s preferred replacement for the ex-Sevilla man and the England star was recently asked to clarify whether or not he would sign a new contract at Liverpool.

He told Sky Sports: “I have been at the club 20 years now and I have signed four or five contract extensions… and none of those have been played out in public. This one won’t be either.”
