Manchester United will name teenager Ethan Wheatley on the bench for today’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth.
The 18-year old has been a regular in United’s Under-21 and Under-18 sides, and will be promoted to the first-team squad for the first time as the club visit the Vitality Stadium.
United are already without Anthony Martial, while there are doubts over the fitness of Marcus Rashford, leaving Erik ten Hag short of options in attack.
Earlier this month, Wheatley pressed home is credentials by scoring hat-trick in the United Under-18’s 9-1 thrashing over Liverpool Under-18s.
He signed his first professional contract at United in January, just after his 18th birthday, and could be set for a debut in the tea-time clash.

The young striker performances in United’s youth sides have also already seen him capped for England at Under-17 level.
As well as fitness issues in attack, Ten Hag is also missing a number of key names as they make the trip to the South Coast still clinging to their faint Champions League hopes – especially in defence.
Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are all unavailable for the game.

They are also sweating on the fitness of midfielder Scott McTominay as they look for their first win in three games.
United came into the fixture off the back of last weekend’s pulsating 2-2 draw with Liverpool, having previously lost 4-3 to Chelsea and the 1-1 draw at Brentford before that.
They will be looking to exact some revenge on the Cherries, after they beat Ten Hag’s men 3-0 in the reverse fixture back in December.
