Ruben Amorim ‘loves’ Morten Hjulmand and there is nothing to suggest that Manchester United won’t be able to sign him, according to a report.

The Amorim era at Man Utd is in full swing. The first signs have been encouraging despite the fact that this is very much not yet the 39-year-old’s team.

While Man Utd are expected to have a relatively quiet January transfer window, next summer could see a veritable revolution in terms of playing personnel at Old Trafford.

The names of a host of potential targets have been bandied about in the media in recent weeks and it is clear that Man Utd will be very busy indeed in 2025.

It is well-known that the Red Devils are keen to add at least two new midfielders next year and there are some players that are more likely to make the move than others.

Amorim to sign Hjulmand

Transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio believes that Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand will certainly be a player Amorim will try to sign next year. “Amorim loves Hjulmand, so he can accompany him to Man Utd,” Di Marzio told Tipsbladet.

“When Amorim was in dialogue with other clubs, including Liverpool, Hjulmand was on every list of players he wanted to take with him. He is definitely a player who will be able to follow Amorim and go to Man Utd because Amorim really likes him.”

Amorim himself previously described Hjulmand as a more complete player than Man Utd summer signing Manuel Ugarte, who previously played under the coach at Sporting.

Hjulmand, a boyhood Arsenal fan who has the Gunners’ badge tattooed on his left arm, told the above-mentioned outlet earlier this year that it is a goal of his top play in the Premier League one day.

His national team coach Brian Riemer backed him to fulfil his ambition before long. “He has the necessary qualities to play for the six/seven best clubs in the English league,” Riemer said in October.

“His character, his leadership, his personality, his communication are not very common in today’s football, and I was at many clubs, in Copenhagen, Brentford, Anderlecht. It reminds me of the defensive midfielders of the past, who controlled the entire game, who led the teams, you don’t see that much nowadays.”
