Man Utd chase Champions League star who left Scholes stunned

Manchester United are tracking a Champions League star who caught Paul Scholes’ eye for the first time in midweek.

Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz has emerged as a transfer target for the Red Devils, with the 19-year-old having starred in the midweek victory over Manchester City – evidently the first time that United legend Scholes had set eyes on the Turkey international star.

Corriere dello Sport reports that the Red Devils are one of three clubs seriously tracking the 19-year-old. Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmund are also tracking the progress of Yldiz, who is an attacking midfield player.

The former Bayern Munch man has seen his reputation explode over the course of the season, with his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) now €47 million, having started the campaign at the €10.9m mark.

This has come about thanks to the teenager contributing four goals and four assists across all competitions this season, which have seen him earmarked as one of European football’s next great wide forwards.

As such, reports in Italy state that he is utterly untransferable and any offers from Man Utd will simply be knocked back out of hand.

Kenan Yildiz still making his name

Yildiz is not yet a household name, though. This was amply demonstrated by TNT Sports pundit Paul Scholes following a virtuoso performance from the teenager as Thiago Motta’s side shocked Man City in midweek.

Following their 2-0 victory – a game in which Yildiz was instrumental due to his creativity on the ball and his willingness to shoot from range – Scholes took to Instagram with a message that shocked fans.

“Who the f*** is this Yildiz?” he wrote on stories with a couple of clapping emojis.

This was a surprising message from the former England international midfielder given Yildiz’s presence in all of Juventus’ Champions League matches this season, yet it was also high praise for the teenager to have his performance recognised by a pundit who is regarded as one of the best players of his generation.
