Juventus have entered the race for Manchester United target Patrick Dorgu, according to Italian media.

The Red Devils have been in talks with Lecce over the Denmark international for well over a week. Man Utd have seen two bids rejected by the Serie A relegation-battlers but negotiations continued on Monday.

Lecce are demanding a fee in the region of €40 million, although there have been suggestions that a guaranteed sum of €35m plus easily achievable bonuses could be enough to get them to sell. Man Utd’s formal bids have so far clocked in at €27m and a little over €30m.

Napoli also hold an interest in the versatile youngster, who can play as a full-back and a winger, and a move within Italy appears to be favoured by Lecce due to the fact that Antonio Conte and company could be open to letting the player stay put until the end of the season.

Dorgu, however, has already agreed personal terms with Man Utd and, as a boyhood Chelsea fan, he is keen on playing in the Premier League.

Juventus enter the race

As long as no agreement with Man Utd is in sight, Lecce will continue to field interest from suitors and Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus have now also entered the fray.

This is due to Man City’s interest in Andrea Cambiaso and it is asserted that Pep Guardiola could make one last push for the Italy international before Deadline Day on February 3. Juventus, for their part, would prefer a sale in the summer.

However, faced with the threat of a renewed offensive for Cambiaso, the Bianconeri are targeting Dorgu as a potential replacement. Should they agree to sell the Italian, they would have the money available to go big on the Dane.

Man Utd remain the favourites to sign the 20-year-old, with Ruben Amorim pushing hard to secure reinforcements, but it is clear that they won’t have a free run at the wonderkid.
