Manchester United face yet more left-back frustration with news coming out of France that Nuno Mendes has decided to extend his Paris Saint-Germain contract.
Signing a new player for the left side of the defence is one of the Red Devils’ top priorities this year. Though young Paraguayan Diego Leon has already penned a contract, he will only join in the summer and he is firmly a prospect for the future.
As a result, Man Utd have continued to scour the left-back market but with little success to date. Milos Kerkez is not available for transfer this month, while Patrick Dorgu is also likely too expensive for the Manchester giants in January.

Theo Hernandez is expected to sign a new contract with AC Milan and the same applies to Alphonso Davies, with news breaking on Friday evening that the Canadian is now close to extending with Bayern Munich after all despite some recent tension.
Now, Man Utd have also learned that Nuno Mendes will stay put.
Mendes snubs Man Utd
According to L’Equipe, the Portugal international has changed his mind and will now sign a new contract with PSG after previously refusing to do so due to the interest from Man Utd and other clubs.
The Transfers Podcast revealed earlier this week that Mendes was demanding an annual salary of €10 million, which PSG appear to have now coughed up, while head coach Luis Enrique has reportedly also done some crucial work in convincing the player to stay.

It is, however, also quite likely that Mendes simply realised that a transfer to Man Utd would be difficult to pull off this month, and perhaps in the summer too, due to the club’s ongoing struggles with Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules, which see them operating on a limited budget.
Either way, the 22-year-old is now set to commit his long-term future to PSG and has definitely closed the door to a potential exit.
