Micah Richards left Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker gobsmacked as he revealed he once picked up a ‘sexual’ injury.
The former defender, who played for Manchester City and Aston Villa, spent chunks of his career on the sideline through injury but one of his knocks was picked up in rather uncomfortable fashion.
The trio, who regularly feature on BBC’s Match Of The Day, were discussing the strangest injury that they picked up during their career, when Richards left his co-hosts stunned.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Richards said: “It’s quite sexual – I’m not really sure it’s for this podcast!”
Before Richards launched into the story, Lineker asked: “What do you mean? Come on, Micah, it’s mainly adults listening!”
“You can’t go into detail but basically I was having some…fun – let’s put it like that – and as I was having fun I slipped off the bed and stretched my leg and did my hamstring so I rolled over.
“The thing was, I was totally fine in training, so when I go back to training and the physio asks me ‘what have I done’ and I just said ‘I’ve got some pain down my back, I felt it in the game but I didn’t really want to say anything’ but it was all just because of that moment.
“They don’t know the truth until now, to be honest!”
As you’d expect, Shearer and Lineker were in stitches hearing Richards’ story.
Shearer reacted after the story, simply saying: “I can’t keep up with that!”
